Crawford County (Missouri)

The Crawford County is a county located in the U.S. state of Missouri. In 2010, the County had 24 696 inhabitants and a population density of 12.8 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is in Steelville, named after James Steel, the owner of the land on which the town was built.

History

The Crawford County was formed on January 23, 1829 from portions of Gasconade County. It was named for William H. Crawford, of war and the United States Treasury.
