Clinton County (Missouri)
The Clinton County is a county located in the U.S. state of Missouri. In 2010, the County had 20,743 inhabitants and a population density of 19.1 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Plattsburg.
The Clinton County is part of the metropolitan area of Kansas City.
Geography
The County is located in northwestern Missouri and is in the west about 40 miles from Kansas away. It has an area of 1097 square kilometers, of which twelve square kilometers of water surface. At the Clinton County borders the following Nachbarcountys:
History
The Clinton County was formed on January 2, 1833 from parts of Clay County. It was named after George Clinton (1739-1812), the first Governor of New York (1777-1795) and fourth Vice President of the United States ( 1805-1812 ).
Demographic data
According to the census in 2010 lived in Clinton County 20,743 people in 8,165 households. The population density was 19.1 inhabitants per square kilometer. In the 8,165 households lived statistically 2.49 per person.
The racial the population was composed of 95.5 percent white, 1.4 percent African American, 0.7 percent Native American, 0.3 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 1.6 percent were descended from two or more races. Regardless of ethnicity were 1.6 percent of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
24.6 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 59.7 percent were between 18 and 64 and 15.7 percent were 65 years or older. 49.8 percent of the population was female.
The median income for a household was $ 51,082. The per capita income was $ 24,130. 9.9 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
