Groß Schwiesow

Great Schwiesow is a municipality in the district of Rostock in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern ( Germany ). It is administered by the Office Güstrow country located in the not office belonging county town Güstrow.

Geography

The municipality is located in the triangle of the cities Gustrow, Biitzow and Schwaan, 30 km south of Rostock. The glacially influenced area around Great Schwiesow is characterized by its very high proportion of forest in the form of pine and beech forests and is slightly hilly. To the south, the terrain falls to the valley of the mist and the parallel Biitzow - Güstrow channel. The northern neighboring community Kassow is located in the Office Schwaan.

Too Big Schwiesow belongs to the district of Klein Schwiesow.

History

The first mention of the place bulk Schwiesow is found in a document from the year 1237, but a first tentative settlement of the district was already some thousands of years earlier.

Economy and infrastructure

The community is predominantly agricultural. 2001, almost dilapidated buildings of the old memory from the club Schwiesower Leisure and Culture Club was developed into a community center, where a variety of events and festivals.

For lovers of motor sport on which inter alia since 1986 is on the grounds of the MSC United Schwiesow available annually on May 1, a motocross event takes place.

The Federal Highway 19 (Berlin- Rostock) is about 16 km away from large Schwiesow ( connection points Laage, Glasewitz or Güstrow ). The road from Gustrow to Biitzow through the community. The nearest train stations are located in the neighboring municipality Lüssow and in Biitzow.
