Giuseppe Signori
Giuseppe Signori ( born February 17, 1968 in Alzano Lombardo ) is a retired Italian footballer.
Career
The striker Signori began his professional career in 1986 at Piacenza Calcio. In 1989 he moved to U.S. Foggia. His breakthrough he had when he went to Lazio in 1992. " Beppe " ' Signori was here one of the most popular players and was the Italian national team. In National Dress though he never was able to show off and attended only one major tournament, the FIFA World Cup 1994 in the USA. In 1997 he moved for one year to Sampdoria. A second spring he experienced between 1998 and 2004 with FC Bologna. He then moved to Greece for Iraklis Saloniki. In October 2005, Signori joined the Hungarian club FC Sopron, where he was active as a player-coach in the spring of 2006 and then finished his career.
In total, " Beppegol " 188 goals in 344 games in Serie A, making it one of the most successful scorers in the history of the Italian league. With competitive cross 127 goals for Lazio, he is after Silvio Piola the top scorer of the capital club.
Possible betting scandal
In a nationwide crackdown in Italy by the public prosecutor of Cremona in June 2011, a 30-strong gang of alleged betting scam artists including Giuseppe Signori and 15 other players, club officials and sports book operators were arrested.
The accused are said to have manipulated games of the first, second and third division in the past few months, and then set at home and abroad high betting sums on it. Signori is, according to the judge Guido Salvini Cremona, the main character of the alleged fraudsters band, which also includes Stefano Bettarini, Mauro Bressan, Antonio Bellavista and Cristiano Doni shall belong. Signori and his accomplices threatened several years in prison. The Italian Football Federation announced legal action against the fraudsters.
