Groß Wüstenfelde

Great Wüstenfelde is a municipality in the district of Rostock in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern ( Germany ). It is administered by the Office Mecklenburg Switzerland, located in the office not belonging Teterow city.

Geography

The municipality Great Wüstenfelde on the northwestern edge of the Mecklenburg Switzerland is in a Grundmoränenbereich between the catchment areas of the rivers Warnow and Peene. The highest point of the hilly area is 52 m above sea level. NN. The nearest towns are Teterow (12 km), Gnoien (15 km) and Laage ( 14 km).

History

As Wostenuelde dive United Wüstenfelde the first time in 1314 in a document on which the district Perov ten years earlier.

In the 1930s, the places Matgendorf, Schwetzin and United were settled Wüstenfelde of the Rhine countries, Oldenburgers and other West German Catholic farmers in the early 1950s, the Catholic parish church in Matgendorf and the Catholic chapel in Schwetzin were built.

  • The annual village festival is held on the last weekend in August which, like the carnival events in the winter time, is organized by the Culture and Leisure Club United Wüstenfelde.
  • Another regular appointment in early July is the Saint Kilian's feast in the village Schwetzin. It is the church festival, in honor of St. Kilian as the patron saint of the Franconia region to commemorate the consecration of the Catholic Kilianskapelle in Schwetzingen.
  • In the district Matgendorf the Park festival is celebrated annually in the castle park.

Economy and infrastructure

Business

In the town sit a medium-sized metal construction company, a carpentry shop, as well as an assembly operation and a retail store. In addition, there are a number of family farms, linked to this, several contractors and an agricultural equipment company with machinery trade.

Transport links

The districts Matgendorf and Perov are on the main road 108 (Rostock - Teterow ). More roads leading into the small towns and Gnoien Dargun. In the near distance, there are connections to the federal highways 19 and 20 at a distance of 23 km is the airport Rostock- Laage. Public transport is operated by the bus transport company Güstrow (OVG ), there is a direct bus to the Hanseatic city of Rostock. The railway line Teterow - Gnoien, was Wüstenfelde at the Great, was shut down in 1996. The nearest train stations are in Teterow and Laage.

Education

In the village there are a kindergarten and a primary school. The outgoing Regional School is located in the neighboring municipality Jördenstorf. The next school in the city Teterow, here there is also a special school, a music school and a vocational training center.
