Calcio, Lombardy

Calcio is a municipality in the Province of Bergamo in the Italian region Lombardy with 5411 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Geography

The neighboring municipalities are Antegnate, Cividate al Piano, Corte Nuova, Covo, Fontanella, Pumenengo, Rudiano (BS) and Urago d' Oglio (BS ).

Attractions

The medieval castle is the place that provides great interest to tourists. Was built the castle in the year 1000 in the grounds of an ancient Roman villa. In 1862 the castle, which was the political and social center of the region over many hundreds of years, has been renovated.

The parish church of San Vittore is also worth mentioning. Although already planned in the 18th century, it was not completed until 1880. The imposing structure houses paintings of Aeneas Salmeggia and Marco Antonio Mainardi, called " Il Chiaveghino ".

Recently, there is a project of the municipality with the aim to renovate works of art on the walls of its inhabitants and also to provide them with modern images of today's artists.
