Capriate San Gervasio

Capriate San Gervasio is a municipality in the Province of Bergamo in the Italian region Lombardy with 7821 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Geography

The neighboring municipalities are Bottanuco Brembate, Canonica d' Adda, Filago, Trezzo sull'Adda (MI) and Vaprio d' Adda (MI).

Attractions

  • In the village there are many notable buildings in which the villa Valsecchi, home of a religious order, the City Hall and the bridge over the Adda River are located. The parish church of St. Alexander was built in the early 20th century. Inside there are numerous frescoes. Other churches in the community are: the church of San Gervasio e Protasio, the parish of Crespi d' Adda, the Oratory of San Rocco.
  • The greatest notoriety has the workers' settlement Crespi d' Adda. In 1995, UNESCO recognized Crespi became only the fifth location in the world in relation to the subject of the history of the industry as a World Heritage Site.
  • In Capriate San Gervasio is the amusement park mini Talia - Leolandia.
