Groß Roge

Groß Roge is a municipality in the district of Rostock in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern ( Germany ). The community is managed by the Office Mecklenburg Switzerland domiciled in the not office belonging Teterow city.

Geography

The municipality Groß Roge lies in the west of the Mecklenburg Switzerland, close to the National Park Mecklenburg Switzerland and Lake Kummerow and only about 5 km from the city Teterow. The municipal area stretches from the slopes of the 100 m high Teterower Heidberge in the east to Radener Sea to the west. The Teterower mountain ring is just a few hundred meters east of the hamlet Mieckow.

History

In the municipality settled before the German eastward expansion Slavic Wilsen which testifies over 1100 year old castle in the district Zierstorf it today.

In the district Zierstorf worked from 1828 agricultural pioneer Domänenrat Carl Pogge.

Groß Roge is dominated by agriculture, in the largely intact natural forests and wetlands with black woodpeckers, doves, cranes and gray goose can be observed.

The municipality is situated on the main road 104 from Gustrow to Teterow in Groß Roge branches a connecting road to Krakow am See. Located 12 km from junction Güstrow lies on the A 19 (Rostock - Berlin). The nearest railway station is located in the neighboring municipality Great Wokern.
