Thürkow

Thürkow is a municipality in the district of Rostock in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern ( Germany ). The community is managed by the Office Mecklenburg Switzerland domiciled in the not office belonging Teterow city.

Geography

The community Thürkow in the west of the Mecklenburg Switzerland is located 6 km north of Teterow, the transverse valley of the brook Thürkower in the lowland surrounding Teterower lake. At the south-west slope of the valley, the Hilgenberg rises - with 71 m above sea level. NN about 60 m above the eastern section of lowland to the nature park Mecklenburg Switzerland and Lake Kummerow heard.

The district Todendorf is part of the municipality Thürkow.

History

1371 emerged the first place Thürkow as a feud in a deed on, already in 1304 is today the district Todendorf witnessed. 1481-1796 owned by the Zeppelin. In the former manor house today including a daycare center is housed.

The early Gothic village church dates from the 13th century. Due to the relatively strong gradient of Thürkower creek was formed in 1999 a small hydroelectric power plant on the site of an old water mill.

A special feature of the manor house in the district Todendorf is: built in 1860 in neo-classical style, it was expanded e by the friends of German -Japanese Friends Todendorf V., Schloss Mitsuko to a German -Japanese cultural center, which is used as an exhibition and event building since 2001. The manor park has the shape of a Japanese Haines with stone settings, exotic plants and the Shokaku Mon (Gate of the flying crane ). Named after the lock is of Japanese woman who lives in Kyoto since 1964 artist Johann Heinrich Radeloff: the " light bringer ".

Near Death village runs the bahndamm like Schwetziner Os, a nearly 35 km long Wallbergzug to the north, reflecting the column grid of the inland ice.

Transport links

The municipality is located on the B 108 Teterow to Rostock. In Thürkow the country road branches off to the small town Gnoien. The railway line from Teterow after Gnoien, lay on their route Thürkow, was shut down in 1997. The nearest train station is in Teterow ( railway Güstrow Neubrandenburg ).
