History
Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd.. was founded in 1928 by a group of European hoteliers, initially under the name The Luxury Hotels of Europe and Egypt with a total of 38 houses and 9,000 rooms and suites, including for example the Hotel Negresco in Nice. The objective was the joint marketing of the hotels in the important North American market. In New York City it was the Hotel Representative, founded Inc. (HRI ). In the late 1960s represented HRI 70 houses, but only in Europe.
In 1971, the The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd.. ( LHW ), headquartered in New York City founded, there is a worldwide network of 23 offices, the parent company was the Hotel Representative AG in Lucerne. It opened in the next two decades, more and more hotels outside Europe. Until the late 1980s, the membership tripled. Today referred to himself as the world's leading alliance of luxury hotels.
The company is now (2013 ) by Andrea Kracht, the president of the Hotel Representative AG and Chairman, and Theodore Teng as president and CEO of The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd.. conducted.

Leading Spas
Leading Spas was founded in 2004 and is the world's first seal of quality for spa and spa services in the field of five-star luxury hotels. It defines internationally applicable quality criteria for a spa. The certification program includes more than 200 criteria. The label run about 100 Hotels Leading Hotels of the addition.

2000 was justified by Relais & Châteaux, the Luxury Alliance as markting company of upscale lifestyle brands.
Among the projects of the company include more Qulitätsmanagement portfolios in the areas of the hospitality industry as a joint venture with other companies, so Leading Quality Assurance ( quality analysis at luxury service from the hotel, spa, cruise and airline industry ), Leading Financial Services, Leading Interactive Reservations ( online booking), Leading Career Services ( for education and training ). Projects such as Leading Hotel Schools of the World ( for hotel schools ) or Leading Products and Services Network ( for suppliers and subcontractors) have now been set.
