. ro is the country code top -level domain ( ccTLD) of the State of Romania. It was introduced on 26 February 1993 and has since been managed by the National Institute for R & D in Informatics ( German National Institute for research and development in computer science ), headquartered in Bucharest.

Properties

Overall a must. Ro domain between one and 63 characters in length. Any natural or legal person worldwide can basically register addresses a residence or an establishment in the country are not necessary - not even for the Admin -C. However, the contracting authority requires compared to other unrestricted ccTLDs specifying the card number, the birthday or a valid entry in the commercial register, if it is for a business.

Domain can be both logged on to second, and third level. There are numerous second- level domains, some of which are specific target groups reserved. Examples are:

  • . tm.ro for registered trademarks
  • . www.ro general for World Wide Web

The official award criteria have twelve domains on the second level.

Special

In 2005, announced the aicovo GmbH from Rosenheim to have a contract with the National Institute for R & D in Informatics. The goal was the increased application of the top -level domain for interested parties from the city and the district of Rosenheim, should be available for the RO as an abbreviation. The cooperation has been strongly supported by the City Council and the Fachhochschule Rosenheim.
