André Lange

André Lange ( born June 28, 1973 in Ilmenau, German Democratic Republic ) is a former German Bobsportler. With four gold and one silver medal, he is the most successful bob pilot at the Winter Olympics.

Career

André Lange began the age of eight with the luge and bobsledding changed in 1993. Lange was a sports soldier in the rank of First Sergeant and started for the BSR Rennsteig Oberhof. In August 2009 he was appointed as professional soldiers. André Lange now lives in Suhl.

In 1998 he became junior world champion in the two-man and four-man, four in 1999. At the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, he won his first gold in four-man bobsleigh. Four years later he repeated this success at the Olympic Games in Turin and also won gold in the two-man bob. 22 years before Wolfgang Hoppe had last reached double gold in bobsleigh at the 1984 Winter Olympics. Long each won eight times at World and European Championships.

André Lange, 2010 was standard-bearer for Germany at the Olympic Games in Vancouver. By winning the gold medal in Whistler Andre Lange of the most successful bob pilot was at the Olympic Winter Games.

After the 2010 Winter Olympics Long ended his career as a player in bobsleigh and was able to crown his farewell with Olympic silver in the four-man event.

2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver

André Lange started on 20 and 21 February 2010 as the pilot with his brakeman Kevin Kuske in the two-, where he was ranked 1st on 20 February 2010 after the 1st run on rank 2 and after the second run, he also 3 and 4 defended in the runs on 21 February 2010. André Lange won a historic victory so - he is the first bobsledder who could win four Olympic gold.

André Lange was celebrated on 2 March 2010 at the Marienplatz in Munich before 6000 fans and on March 3, 2010 in Oberhof 2000 fans.

Life after the end of your career as an active athlete

Lange will work after finishing his career as a bob pilot on the coaching staff of the Bobsleigh and Luge Federation of Germany (BSD ). His team members switched to the pilot Maximilian Arndt and Thomas Florschütz. In 2010 he was elected an honorary member of the FIL.
