Domèvre-sur-Avière

Domèvre -sur- Avière is a commune with 415 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Vosges in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Epinal, Epinal to Canton -Ouest and since 2012 the Local Government Association Agglomà d' Epinal.

Geography

Domèvre is at the lower Avière, a tributary of the Moselle River, 14 kilometers north- west of Epinal, capital ( chef-lieu ) of the department of Vosges.

The 9.16 km ² large municipality of Domèvre extends on both sides of a four- kilometer-long section of the Mosel tributary Avière; The old village center is situated on the right Avièreufer. East and west of the river valley spreads over an up to 40 -meter-high terrace level rolling hills of that is wooded for the most part: the eastern half of the municipal area is part of the 15 km ² of the Forêt de Souche Thaon. An approximately one -kilometer-wide strip along the Avière is used for agriculture.

To Domèvre -sur- Avière part of two kilometers north of the village center hamlet on Perrey. Neighboring communities of Domèvre -sur- Avière are Oncourt in the north, Thaon- les -Vosges and Chavelot in the northeast, Golbey in the east, Uxegney in the south, the west and Fomerey Gigney and Mazeley in the northwest.

History

The village was first attested in the 13th century as Domeuvre. It belonged to the Bailiwick of Epinal. The church, dedicated to St. Èvre ( Aper ), was part of the parish Uxegney. From 1790 to 1802 was Domèvre -sur- Avière chief town of a canton of the same.

In the dam break Bouzey on April 27, 1895 Parts of the village were devastated, death lives were lost in Domèvre.

Demographics

Since the 1960s, the population of Domèvre has more than doubled, which is due to individual housing for city dwellers from the nearby metropolitan area Epinal / Golbey. Since the beginning of the 21st century, the population has declined slightly.

Economy and infrastructure

In addition to the persons employed in agriculture, small craft and service companies are commuters to the nearby metropolitan area to Epinal, the largest group of workers in Domèvre.

The nearby transport hub Epinal enables the connection to the national road and rail network. By Domèvre -sur- Avière the Territory road leads 41 of Igney after Sanchey at the reservoir Bouzey.
