Rochesson

Rochesson is a commune with 703 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) in the department of Vosges in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Epinal, in the canton of Saulxures -sur -Moselotte and community association VALLONS you bouchot et du Rupt.

Geography

The municipality is located in the Vosges Rochesson, 15 kilometers east of the city Remiremont and eleven kilometers southwest of the town of Gerardmer, seen large-scale between Epinal and Mulhouse, in the southeast of Lorraine.

The 21.5 km ² comprehensive municipality of Rochesson comprises up to the headwaters and the mouth region of the catchment area of bouchot, a tributary of the Moselotte. This includes a glacier -formed valley and flung to the north and south shares in the mountains on both sides of bouchot. In the north, a six- kilometer long, steep, towering, but only 500 to 1000 m wide ridge borders the municipality area of the Valley of the Menaurupt, from the South lead the mountain streams Goutte you Herray, Goutte de Plainfaing, Goutte de Battion, Goutte de Chercheneux, Goutte de Jossonfaing and Ruisseau de Goutte Noire for Bouchottal. The forests, which cover about 80 % of the community belong to the forest areas Forêt de Longegoutte (south of bouchot ) and Forêt d' Housseramont (north of bouchot ).

The 500 meter high Bouchottal (in the range for the La Chêneau about 600 m ) is characterized by a very loosened development. For climatic reasons, there is no significant agriculture in the valley, however, as instead of meadows and pastures.

Neighboring communities of Rochesson are Gerardmer in the northeast, La Bresse in East Cornimont and Basse -sur -le- Rupt in the south, southwest, and Sapois Gerbamont in the west and northwest.

History

The area between Gerardmer and Vagney was settled slowly clearing from the 7th century. It played like the entire Vosges space monks and monasteries founded a central role. Rochesson was part of the large-scale Ban de Vagney, which also includes the now autonomous communities Vagney, Gerbamont, Basse -sur -le- Rupt, Saint- Amé and Saulxures included. The Ban de Vagney ever been placed under the dukes of Lorraine and the chapter of Remiremont half.

Already in 1359 there were in the range of Rochesson a village called Aurimont, which was washed away in a devastating flood of bouchot in 1522. 1407 turns up the new village Rourssechons in a document. The name gradually evolved over Roschon to Rochesson.

For 1592 a first chapel has survived in the village. It was destroyed in 1721. Two years later at the site of Saint -Blaise, the present church of Saint-Prix. Of the five bells in the tower is the oldest dating back to 1738.

The building of the Mayor with the school ( école - Mairie ) was inaugurated in 1839, the girls' school was established in 1882.

Economy and infrastructure

In Rochesson are smaller craft trade and construction companies resident (including butchers, bakers and cheese and two car dealerships ). In recent years, the tourism offerings have been significantly expanded in Rochesson. It created numerous Holiday Homes. The ski club Vagney - Rochesson cared about ten kilometers of cross -country ski trails in winter.
