Ville-sur-Illon
Ville- sur- Illon is a commune in the Vosges department in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Epinal, to Canton Dompaire and the Local Government Association ( Communauté de communes ) Secteur de Dompaire.

Geography
The 520 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) scoring community Ville- sur- Illon between Epinal and Vittel in the south of Lorraine. Nine kilometers south of the community is the Saônequelle.
On the western outskirts of Ville- sur- Illon along about twelve kilometers long Illon, a narrow tributary of Madon flows. That in the local area 300 meters wide Illontal widens upstream at the mouth of Ruisseau de Fontenaille and is flanked by gently sloping hills that lead over east and west of Illon on each 360 meter high plateau. The south of the municipal area is occupied by a 500 -acre closed forest area. Most of the nearly 18 km ² comprehensive community area, however, consists farmland.
Neighboring municipalities of Ville- sur- Illon are Dompaire and Madonna -et- Lamerey in the north, Damas -et- Bettegney in the northeast, Harol in the east, Escles in the south, Pierrefitte in the west and Les Ableuvenettes in the northwest.
History
1132 emerged the first place as Vicarium villa.
From 1703 until the French Revolution was Ville- sur- Illon seat of a Margraviate ( marquisat ) as part of the Bailiwick in Darney.
The town hall, in which there was also the Boys' School, dates back to 1834, the girls school founded in 1868.
Brewery History
Beer brewing has a long tradition in the community. 1627 is the first brewery in the town detectable. Beginning of the 20th century reached the Grande Brasserie & Malterie Vosgienne with an annual output of 46,000 hectoliters of beer peaked, went as a large shipments to Paris and Troyes. The increasing concentration in the beverage industry left to die after the Second World War, many breweries. Thus ended also in Ville- sur- Illon the tradition in 1956. Malt until 1966 still produced until 1975 soft drinks. The local museum shows the development of brewing in Ville- Sur- Illon, beyond different beers are there again today brewed in small quantities.
Demographics
The community was able to compensate for the loss of population due to the closure of the brewery only slowly.

Economy and infrastructure
A part of the population lives from agriculture or is employed in small craft and commercial establishments. Due to the convenient transport links, many residents commute to Vittel, Mirecourt or Epinal.
Ville- sur- Illon today school location for the nearby communities Harol and Pierrefitte.

In Ville- sur- Illon the Department of Roads 4 ( Mirecourt -Bains- les- Bains ) and 6 ( Nomexy -Darney ) intersect. Five kilometers north of Ville partially -developed two-lane expressway from Epinal to Vittel runs / Contrexévillenear.
