Grandrupt-de-Bains

Grandrupt -de- Bains is a commune in the Vosges department in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Epinal, in the canton of Bains- les- Bains and the Local Government Association, founded in 2006 ( Communauté de communes ) Val de Voge.

Geography

Grandrupt -de- Bains is situated at an altitude 430-440 m above sea level, 14 kilometers north- west of Bains- les- Bains, 30 kilometers south-west of Epinal in the south of Lorraine.

The 3.6 km ² large municipality covers a portion of the landscape Voge. The Ruisseau Grandrupt rises southwest of the village and flows southeast to Côneytal from. The Springing in the west of the municipality Ruisseau des Bocards turns north and joins the first named stream in the still young Saône, whose source is located just three kilometers north of Grandrupt -de- Bains. To the west is achieved with 467 meters above sea level, the highest point of the municipality.

The over 400 m above sea area around Grandrupt -de- Bains is partly as farmland, but mostly used for grazing, while in the southwest ( Bois de Grandrupt as part of the great Forêt Domaniale de Darney ) forests dominate the total of one-third of the municipal area cover.

Neighboring communities of Grandrupt -de- Bains La Haye in the north and east, Gruey -lès- Surance in the south and Hennezel in the West.

History

The name Grandrupt can not be detected before 1611. Until the French Revolution, the territory of the present municipality was part of the Bailiwick of Vesoul in Franche -Comté, changed in 1790 in the newly formed Canton of Bains- les -Bains, the then district Darney. 1864, the Church of St. Nicholas was built in 1870 followed by the construction of the school and mayor's house ( mairie - école ). Due to the increasing mail traffic and the likelihood of confusion with the homonymous municipality Grandrupt in the northeast of the department of Vosges, the name of the community was provided (based on the nearby spa town of Bains- les- Bains ) by decree of 22 May 1867, with the additional de -Bains.

Population

With 87 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Grandrupt -de- Bains is one of the small communities in the department of Vosges. Since the 1960s, the population remained approximately constant. In the first third of the 19th century were still about 400 inhabitants in Grandrupt.

The residents of Grandrupt -de- Bains are chiefly engaged in agriculture (cereals cultivation, dairy farming ), employed in forestry and small service businesses in the town or the surrounding area.

The Department of Road 164 Neufchâteau about Contrexévillenear, Darney, Bains- les- Bains to Saint -Loup- sur- Semouse leads southwest past Grandrupt -de- Bains. The nearest train station is 17 kilometers southeast of Grandrupt in Bains- les- Bains.
