Edward Y. Parsons

Edward Young Parsons ( born December 12, 1842 in Middletown, Jefferson County, Kentucky; † July 8, 1876 in Washington DC ) was an American politician. Between 1875 and 1876 he represented the state of Kentucky in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Edward Parsons attended the public schools in Louisville and then for a year, the St. Louis High School. After his return to Kentucky, he studied until 1861 at the University of Louisville. In the following three years Parsons worked as a teacher. After a subsequent law studies at the Louisville Law School in 1865 and its recent approval as a lawyer, he started in Louisville to work in this profession.

Politically, Parsons was a member of the Democratic Party. In the congressional elections of 1874 he was in the fifth electoral district of Kentucky in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Elisha Standiford on March 4, 1875. But Parsons was its actually runs until March 3, 1877 legislative session in Congress not quit because he already died on 8 July 1876. The married with Mary Belknap politician was buried in Louisville. His parliamentary seat fell after a special election to Henry Watterson.
