Charles W. Milliken

Charles William Milliken (* August 15, 1827 in Murray, Kentucky, † October 16, 1915 in Franklin, Kentucky ) was an American politician. Between 1873 and 1877 he represented the state of Kentucky in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Already in 1829 Charles Milliken came with his parents in the Simpson County. There the family settled near the town of Franklin. Charles attended school in his new home and then to 1849 the host college in Summner County in Tennessee. After a subsequent law degree in 1850 and its recent approval as a lawyer, he started in Franklin to work in this profession. Between 1857 and 1862 he was a prosecutor in the Simpson County; 1867 to 1872, he held this office in the fourth judicial district of Kentucky.

Politically Milliken was a member of the Democratic Party. In the congressional elections of 1872 he was in the third electoral district of Kentucky in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Joseph Horace Lewis on March 4, 1873. After a re-election in 1874 he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1877 two legislative sessions. Since 1875 he was Chairman of the Committee for the control of public expenditure.

1876 ​​Milliken waived on a bid again. As a result, he practiced as a lawyer again. Since 28 September 1908, he was state bankruptcy trustee in the space of Bowling Green. A post he held until his death on October 16, 1915 in Franklin.
