Girmont-Val-d'Ajol
Girmont -Val- D'Ajol is a commune of 233 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Vosges in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Epinal, in the canton of Plombières- les- Bains and the Local Government Association, founded in 1996 Vosges méridionales.
Geography
The community Girmont -Val- D'Ajol lies in the southwestern Vosges, about ten kilometers south of Remiremont seen large-scale between Epinal and Belfort.
The 16.67 km ² large municipality of Girmont -Val- D'Ajol bordered to the south of the region of Franche -Comté and comprises 600 to 750 meters high mountain country east of Le Val- D'Ajol. To the east of the municipality of the Rhone-Rhine watershed runs. Several mountain streams in the community - including the Combeauté whose source lies in the northeast of the community - drained by the Semouse that, while the eastern neighboring community Rupt is Lanterne and the Saône to the Rhône and thereby to the Mediterranean Sea in the Mosel valley.
Forests cover about 60 % of the municipal area, particularly on the ridges to the east and north. They belong mostly to the Forêt d' Hérival. Agricultural lands consist mostly of pasture land.
The community has a very loosened settlement character, only the church building is a little denser. The municipality comprises the hamlets Clairegoutte, Le Beuny, Le Girmont d' amont, Le Dropt, Le Sauceley, Les and Les Quatre Vents Faings Potots ''. Among the many mountain farms are many partially single standing houses.
Neighboring communities of Girmont -Val- D'Ajol are Le Val- D'Ajol the west and north, Saint- Étienne- lès- Remiremont and Dommartin- lès- Remiremont in the northeast, Rupt -sur -Moselle to the east and La Montagne and La Rosière in the south.
History
Was also of significance for the environment, the Prieuré d' Hérival, a priory, which was built around 1080 and 1800 destroyed. Only the guest house of the priory still exists today. Hérival and the present territory of the Municipality Girmont -Val- D'Ajol belonged to the sphere of influence of the chapter Remiremont. The place Hérival belonged until 1832 to the municipality before it the neighboring village of Le Val- D'Ajol was slammed.
The Church of the Immaculate Conception ( l' église de l' Immaculée - Conception ) was built in 1870, ten years later, the school and mayoral building was inaugurated.

Economy and infrastructure
In Girmont -Val- D'Ajol small agricultural and craft shops are located. Part of the population is employed in the tourism industry, some commute to the neighboring communities.
In the area of Girmont -Val- D'Ajol Many hiking trails and a mountain bike route are shown, in the winter trails are groomed. In addition to numerous holiday houses there are in the community several hotels, inns and B & Bs.

The community is located off the national roads. Roads leading into the communities of Le Val - D'Ajol, Rupt -sur -Moselle, La Montagne and the city of Remiremont.
