Bradley County (Arkansas)
The Bradley County is a county located in the U.S. state of Arkansas. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is in Warren. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.
Geography
The County is located in southern Arkansas on the northeastern bank of the Ouachita River, about 50 miles from Louisiana is removed and has an area of 1,695 square kilometers, of which ten square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered by the following counties:
History
The Bradley County was formed on December 18, 1840 from parts of Union County, Drew County, Ashley County and Cleveland County. It was named after Hugh Bradley (1783-1854), one of the first white settlers in southern Arkansas. The courthouse is the few not burned down as one of this period and the first process records from April 1841 are still available.
The first European arrivals in the area were probably French hunters who left behind some deposits here. 23.6 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 9.7 percent between 18 to 24, 26.5 percent between 25 and 44, 22.8 percent between 45 and 64 and 17.5 percent were 65 years or older. The average age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 97.7 males to every 100 females age 18 and over, there were an average of 95.8 males.
The median income for a household was $ 24,821, and the median income for a family $ 30,753. Males have a median income of $ 28,228, women $ 18,098. The per capita income was $ 13,895. 20.6 percent of families and 26.3 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
