Lafayette County (Arkansas)
The Lafayette County is a county located in the U.S. state of Arkansas. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Lewisville. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.
Geography
The County is located in southwest Arkansas, on the south by Louisiana, is located in the west about 30 miles from Texas and has an area of 1,412 square kilometers, of which 48 square kilometers are water surface. It borders the following counties and parishes:
History

The Lafayette County was formed on October 15, 1827 from parts of Hempstead County.
It was named after the Marquis de La Fayette (1757-1834), a French politician and general who participated on the side of the colonists in the American Revolutionary War and also played an important role in the French Revolution.
Demographic data
According to the census in 2010 lived in Lafayette County 7,645 people in 3,130 households. The population density was 5.6 people per square kilometer.
The racial the population was composed of 60.7 percent white, 37.2 percent African American, 0.2 percent Native American, 0.3 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 0.8 percent were descended from two or more races. Regardless of ethnicity, 1.7 percent of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
