Coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on 15 November 2011 by the Home Office and registered under No. 340 of the coat of arms role of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

Blazon: " divided by gold and blue, then two diagonally crossed split of red and gold with crooks been expended crookedness. Above, a guardant, crowned gold black bull head with closed mouth, knocked- red tongue and silver horns; below a torn, langued, golden griffin's head. "

The symbolism of the arms increases with the Werl bull's head with respect to the previous affiliation of large parts of present-day district to rule Werle 1229-1436. A also depicted gripping head is to refer you to the membership portions of the present-day county area to rule Rostock to the big main division of the state in 1229. Two crossed pastorals give an indication of the earlier extensive land holdings of the monastery of Doberan, that was both private monastery and grave laying of the Princely House of Mecklenburg.

The coat of arms was designed by the Freudenberger heraldist Manfred Gerth.
