Seelbach bei Hamm
Seelbach at Hamm (Sieg) is a municipality in the district of Old Churches ( Westerwald) in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Hamm (Sieg).

Geographical location
Seelbach is located on the northern edge of the Westerwald, near the Sieg valley, about 2 km south-east of Hamm (Sieg ), near the southern Kloster Marienthal. Other neighboring municipalities are Roth in the Northeast and Breitscheidt in the West.
Community structure
The municipality consists of the villages of Upper and Lower Seelbach and Marienthal, which the former Marienthal monastery, today meeting and education center of the Archdiocese of Cologne ( " Haus Marienthal " ) home.
History
By the year 1806 Seelbach belonged to the county of Sayn- Hachenburg. Seelbach formed within the parish Hamm a "Send " above its own administrative district, which included the villages of Upper and Lower Seelbach, the Marienthal monastery and the court seltzer upper mountain. The county of Sayn- Hachenburg 1799 was fallen on the Erbweg to the princes of Nassau- Weilburg. 1806 came the two princes of Nassau in the Napoleonic Confederation of the Rhine, so that the region of 1806 belonged to the Duchy of Nassau. Because of the Congress of Vienna (1815 ) agreements, the region was ceded to the Kingdom of Prussia.
Under the Prussian administration Seelbach the mayor Hamm was assigned to the newly built district of Old churches that belonged from 1822 to the Rhine province.
On September 1, 1973, the community name of " Seelbach, Office Hamm " in " Seelbach at Hamm (Sieg) " has been changed.
