Wölmersen

Wölmersen is a municipality in the district of Old Churches ( Westerwald) in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Old churches.

Geographical location

Wölmersen lies in the Westerwald, near the national highway 8, about seven kilometers from the Old churches. Neighboring municipalities are Oberirsen with Northwest, Kettenhausen in the Southeast and in the Southwest Birnbach.

History

The foundation of the settlement is in the 8/9 Century thought. The earliest recorded mention Wölmersens dates from the year 1413, as an early version of the place name Wilmershuißen is occupied.
