Charmois-devant-Bruyères
Charmois -devant- Bruyeres is a commune with 416 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Vosges of Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Epinal, founded the canton of Bruyeres and to the 2002 Local Government Association Vallée de la Vologne.

Geography
The community Charmois -devant- Bruyeres is located in the Vosges Mountains at an altitude of 410 m above sea level, about twelve kilometers east of Epinal.
The area of 6.61 km ² municipal area comprises the upper part of the valley of the Ruisseau d' Argent, a mountain stream, which flows into Archettes into the Moselle. In the northwest initiates Pass ( 445 m) in the valley of Saint- Ogre - also a Mosel Creek - about.
The main settlement is the axis extending in a north-south direction of Grand Rue, branch off from the center of the village roads in other directions. The higher elevations, about one-third of the municipal area are forested ( Bois Noir ), below about 470 m above sea level is dominated by pasture and arable land.

History
The name comes from the Latin Charmois Carpinetum for hornbeam from (French Charming ).
The existing double municipality until 1830 Charmois -le- Roulier shelter as the neighboring communities Aydoilles and Deycimont the Dukes of Lorraine and the Remiremont. The abbesses of the pin and the provost of Bruyeres shared the tithes: he stood for every resident of the villages per year to four baskets oats and six hens.
By dividing emerged in 1830 from the community Charmois -le- Roulier the communities Charmois -devant- Bruyeres and Le Roulier.
