Jazz Fest Wien
The Vienna Jazz Festival is held annually in the summer in Vienna since 1991 Jazz Festival.
Musical direction and venues
The emphasis in the program of the festival is mostly international stars of jazz, but also of soul, blues, pop and rock. In addition, newcomers of the genre and local young artists can be seen.
Central venues include the Vienna State Opera and the Vienna city hall for concerts on a large scale. Self found in the jazz club Porgy & Bess jazz and country, on the stages of WUK, dance and Summer days and the arcaded courtyard of the Vienna City Hall and on the Town Hall Square in front of it instead. Have been recorded, among other things already, the museum district, the Vienna Konzerthaus and the Austria Center Vienna. The annual district heating Open Air at the site of the incinerator spittelau is also part of the festival. Concerts on the Summerstage and City Hall Square can be visited with free admission. The festival is supported by the City of Vienna.
Founder and organizer Fritz Thom, who is also the International Jazz Festivals Organization projects, in close collaboration with Heinz Krassnitzer ( 1953-2013 ).
