Saint-Étienne-lès-Remiremont

Saint- Étienne- lès- Remiremont is a commune with 3877 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Vosges in the south of the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Epinal, in the canton of Remiremont and community association Porte des Hautes- Vosges.

Geography

The town of Saint -Étienne- lès- Remiremont is immediately adjacent to the city Remiremont, the upper Moselle forms the dividing line. The coming of the Vosges Moselotte flows south-east of the core village in the Mosel.

History

As early as the 7th century was Sancti Stepha - today's Saint- Étienne - first mentioned. Since the Middle Ages, Saint -Étienne was a bone of contention between the Dukes of Lorraine and the pin in Remiremont.
