1893–94 Football League

The Football League First Division 1893/94 was the sixth season of the Football League First Division as the highest English football league. It began on September 2, 1893 and ended on 23 April 1894. Aston Villa won with six points adrift of defending AFC Sunderland for the first time in club history the English Championship. Of the two last year climbers Sheffield United and FC Darwen Darwen had from the club after just one year in the Second Division second-class return. In addition to this club also Newton Heath dismounted; the two clubs should be replaced by the following season Liverpool and Small Heath.

A total of 355 players were used, with Derby County, AFC Sunderland and Wolverhampton Wanderers with 19, the least and the Darwen FC with 29 aufboten most players in league games. 129 newcomers were offset by 136 footballers who most recently came into play in the 1893/94 season.

" Friendlies "

Before automatic promotion and relegation rule between the first-class First Division and the second-rate Second Division for the first time reached the end of the 1898/99 season to potential climbers from the Second Division in play-off same had to prove " friendlies ". Also a part in the game mode was dependent on a voting procedure of the League Association, who had to decide on a possible participation of an association. Also in the 1893/94 season there were test matches between the three lowest ranked first division club Preston North End FC Darwen and Newton Heath and the best second- division club FC Liverpool, Small Heath and Notts County, from which the FC Liverpool, Small Heath and Preston North End as emerged sporting winners and then secured in each case the majority of the votes of the League Association.
