1953–54 Football League

The Football League First Division 1953/54, was the 55th season of the Football League First Division English as the highest football league. The Wolverhampton Wanderers won four point gap on local rivals West Bromwich Albion, the first English championship in their history. Both newly promoted Sheffield United and Huddersfield Town could get the class; instead had to play the course in the Second Division of Middlesbrough FC and Liverpool FC. These two teams should be in the following season replaced by the two newly promoted second division Leicester City and Everton FC.

A total of 534 players were used, with the Burnley FC and the least of Portsmouth with 32 mustered 20 most players in league games. 124 newcomers were offset by 143 footballers who most recently came into play in the season 1953/54.
