1965–66 in English football

The Football League First Division 1965/66 was the 67th season of the Football League First Division English as the highest football league. The Liverpool FC won with six points gap on the chasing Leeds United and Burnley now his seventh British Championship. Of the two climbers Newcastle United and Northampton Town only the club from Newcastle could get the class; Northampton next to Blackburn Rovers had to play the course in the Second Division. These two teams should be in the following season replaced by the two second-division promoted Manchester City and Southampton FC.

A total of 479 players were used, with the Liverpool FC and Everton FC the fewest with 26 mustered 14 most players in league games. 95 newcomers were offset by 102 footballers who most recently came into play in the 1965/66 season.
