1903–04 in English football

The Football League First Division 1903/ 04 was the 16th season of the Football League First Division as the highest English football league. The Wednesday defended the title last year and won three points behind Manchester City Movers before the second English championship in the club's history. In addition to Manchester City could get the class with Small Heath, the second climber. Instead, the Liverpool and West Bromwich Albion had to play the course in the Second Division. These two teams should be in the following season replaced by the two newly promoted second division Preston North End and Woolwich Arsenal.

A total of 416 players were used, the Wolverhampton Wanderers with 18 the least and Manchester City with 28 aufboten most players in league games. 129 newcomers were offset by 110 footballers who most recently came into play during the 1903 /04 season.

  • On December 28, 1903 Edgar Chadwick ended as the last player who was still active in the first 1888/89 season, with a game for Liverpool after his Erstligakarriere 344 Erstligaeinsätzen. His debut was on September 8, 1888 for Everton. In total he played 270 games for Everton, 31 for Burnley and 43 for Liverpool.
