1972–73 in English football

The Football League First Division 1972/73 was the 74th season of the Football League First Division as the highest English football league. The Liverpool FC won with three points behind Arsenal on his now eighth English championship. Both newly promoted Birmingham City and Norwich City were able to get the class; instead had to Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion the transition to the Second Division compete. These two teams should be in the following season replaced by the two second division team FC Burnley and Queens Park Rangers.

A total of 484 players were used, with Liverpool and Manchester United as well as the least of Chelsea with 29 aufboten 16 most players in league games. 99 newcomers were offset by 81 footballers who most recently came into play in the 1972/73 season.
