1952–53 in English football

The Football League First Division 1952/53, was the 54th season of the Football League First Division as the highest English football league. Arsenal won his seventh now English championship before the same number of points Preston North End. Both newly promoted Sheffield Wednesday and Cardiff City could get the class; instead had to Stoke City and Derby County to transition into the Second Division compete. These two teams should be in the following season replaced by the two newly promoted second division Sheffield United and Huddersfield Town.

A total of 544 players were used, with the Burnley FC, West Bromwich Albion and Preston North End, the least and Manchester United with 31 aufboten 20 most players in league games. 132 newcomers were offset by 150 footballers who most recently came into play in the season 1952/53.
