Trémonzey

Trémonzey is a commune with 219 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Vosges in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Epinal, in the canton of Bains- les- Bains and the Local Government Association, founded in 2006 ( Communauté de communes ) Val de Voge.

Geography

The community Trémonzey lies in the extreme south of Lorraine, in the catchment area of the river. The 9 km ² large municipality is bordered on the southeast by the region of Franche -Comté. It includes a portion of the high plateau of Voge, interrupted by the valley of the Coney Creek Falvinfoing, which is fed by two spring-fed streams that originate in the southeast of the community. In her run three ponds were dammed: the Etang de Falvingfoing, the Etang des Harnigaises and the Etang de Tremeurs. The latter is 700 meters long and up to 250 meters wide, the largest of the ponds that have been created to drive the pre-existing mills reliable but already belongs to the neighboring village of Bains- les- Bains. West of Trémonzey runs the Canal des Vosges.

Forests cover about 60 % of the municipal area, particularly in the higher elevations to the east and south. They belong mostly to the Forêt Chanot. The agricultural areas are made approximately equal parts of arable and pasture land.

To Trémonzey include the districts Le Saunier and Les Trémeurs.

Neighboring communities of Trémonzey are Bains- les- Bains in the north, Le Clerjus in the east, Aillevillers -et- Lyaumont in the southeast and Fontenoy- le -Château in the south and west.

History

The name Trémonzey ( 1526 Trimansey ) means three mountains and comes from an old Lorraine dialect. The place was a long time in the area of ​​Terres surséance, which was claimed by the County of Burgundy and the Duchy of Lorraine for centuries. By 1508 there were several contracts for membership of the land. It was not until the Treaty of Besancon, signed on August 25, 1704 between Louis XIV and Duke Leopold of Lorraine, the border was finally established. Trémonzey came up with some other villages in Lorraine, while Fougerolles was French.

Its history is closely connected with the metal processing in Côneytal. To wire production in different tanks in the neighboring village of Fontenoy- le -Château was in 1830 added the nail making, on the one specialized in Trémonzey. Numerous innovations and automation processes led in 1847 to a daily production of 200 kg nails and spikes per worker. 1914 had the wiredrawing 80 employees. The former royal iron nail factory produced 500 tons of nails. 1872 was also the Moulin aux Bois, an old forge converted into a nail factory. The industry led to a degree of prosperity in the community for the period of over a century. 1980 ended the tradition with the closure of the Moulin aux Bois.

Demographics

The population of the municipality Trémonzey is at a constant level since the 1960s. In the heyday of the metal industry in the 186er years, the congregation had more than 900 inhabitants.

Economy and infrastructure

In Trémonzey small agricultural and craft shops as well as a forestry operation are located. In the ponds around the district of Les Trémeurs fish farm is operated. Some employed workers commute to the nearby spa town of Bains- les- Bains. Thanks to the rural tranquility the town is now a preferred place of residence for retirees.

The Territory road 164 ( Saint -Loup- sur- Semouse - Vittel ) leads southeast past Trémonzey. Thanks to the southeast of the municipality performs the line - Nancy Belfort, which is operated by the Company TER Lorraine. The train station of Bains- les- Bains is located five kilometers from Trémonzey in the municipality of Le Clerjus.
