Cheatham County, Tennessee

Cheatham County is a county located in the state of Tennessee in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Ashland City.

Geography

The County is located north-west of the geographic center of Tennessee, is located in the north about 40 miles from Kentucky and has an area of 795 square kilometers, of which 12 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Robertson County, Davidson County, Williamson County, Dickson County and Montgomery County.

History

Cheatham County was formed on February 28, 1856 from parts of Davidson County, Dickson County, Montgomery County and Robertson County. It was named after Edward Cheatham, a politician from Tennessee.

According to the census in 2000 lived in Cheatham County 35 912 people in 12,878 households and 10,160 families. The population density was 46 people per square kilometer.
