Gelvécourt-et-Adompt

Gelvécourt -et- Adompt is a commune with 88 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Vosges in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Epinal, to Canton Dompaire and was founded in 1992 Local Government Association ( Communauté de communes ) Pays de Saône et Madon.

Geography

The small community Gelvécourt -et- Adompt consists of two 500 meters separated hamlets Adompt and Gelvécourt and is located about halfway between Epinal and Vittel in the south of Lorraine. The small town of Mirecourt is located 13 kilometers from Gelvécourt -et- Adompt.

Between the two eponymous districts of about twelve kilometers long Illon, a narrow tributary of Madon flows. That in the local area 400 meters wide Illontal turns from the south to the northwest to near confluence with the Madon and is flanked by gently sloping hills that lead over to the east and southwest of the Illon up to 380 meters high altitude plateau. Most of the nearly four -acre community area consists of agricultural land. Only in the north and the south, the municipality has shares in forest areas, together comprise about 50 ha.

Neighboring communities of Gelvécourt -et- Adompt are Dompaire in the northeast, Les Ableuvenettes the southeast, Légéville -et- Bonfays in the southwest and Begnécourt in the northwest.

History

1305 appeared in a document for the first time the spell of Adompt on, belonged to the next Adompt also Gelvécourt and BEGNECOURT. Adompt was part of the Bailiwick in Darney. The parish church in Adompt dates from the 12th century. It is still for the surrounding communities Les Ableuvenettes, Begnécourt and Légéville -et- Bonfays responsible, which do not have own churches. Gelvécourt belonged from 1703 to the French Revolution to the Margraviate of Ville- sur- Illon.

Economy and infrastructure

The inhabitants are predominantly in agriculture ( farming, husbandry ) employs. Gelvécourt -et- Adompt is thus one of the few originally acting farming villages in the department of Vosges.

Transport links

Passing through the municipality, the Department of Road 4 of Mirecourt after Bains- les- Bains. Just north of Gelvécourt -et- Adompt the partially -developed two-lane expressway from Epinal to Vittel runs / Contrexévillenear.
