Katie Hall

Katie Beatrice Hall ( born April 3, 1938 in Mound Bayou, Bolivar County, Mississippi, † February 20, 2012 in Gary, Indiana) was an American politician. Between 1982 and 1985, she represented the state of Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Katie Beatrice Green, so her maiden name, attended the public schools of their home and then studied until 1960 at Mississippi Valley State University in Itta Bena. She then continued her education with studies at Indiana University in Bloomington. She then worked as a teacher. Politically Hall was a member of the Democratic Party. Between 1974 and 1976 she was a Member of the House of Representatives from Indiana; 1976-1982 she was a member of the State Senate. In 1978 she was a delegate to the Democratic National Special in Memphis (Tennessee).

1980 Katie Hall was president of the local Democratic Party congress in Indiana. After the death of Congressman Adam Benjamin has been in the overdue election for the first seat of their state as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where they took up their new mandate on November 2, 1982.
