William F. Parrett

William Fletcher Parrett (* August 10, 1825 in Blairsville, Posey County, Indiana; † 30 June 1895 in Evansville, Indiana ) was an American politician. Between 1889 and 1893 he represented the State of Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

William Parrett attended the common schools and later studied at the DePauw University in Greencastle thereafter. After a subsequent study of law and qualifying as a lawyer, he began to work in Evansville in this profession. Between 1852 and 1854 he lived in Oregon; then he returned to Evansville. In 1855 Parrett moved to Boonville. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party. In 1858 he was elected to the House of Representatives from Indiana. Between 1859 and 1888 Parrett has worked in various courts as judges.

In the congressional elections of 1888 he was the first electoral district of Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Francis B. Posey on March 4, 1889. After a re-election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1893 two legislative sessions. In 1892 he gave up another candidacy. After his retirement from the U.S. House of Representatives William Parrett practiced as a lawyer again. He died on June 30, 1895 in Evansville.
