Tippeligaen

The Tippeligaen is the highest division of the Norwegian football, also known as the Elite series.

Name

In the rules of the Norwegian Football Association, the league is called 0 divisjon whose names shall be determined annually by the Association. The current official name Tippeligaen (betting League ) is attributable to the sponsor, the betting company Norsk Tipping. From 1963 to 1990, the major league was first Divisjon. This name was later used for the second highest class, which is ( also a sponsor ) called since 2005 Adecco Ligaen. From 1948 to 1962 was called the League Hovedserien, and before Norgesserien ( "Norwegian league" ).

Regulate

The top Norwegian league consists of 16 teams ( since 2009). From March to November of each year is ( one home and away game ) determines the Norwegian champions in 30 games.

In the UEFA five year ranking in 2013, the Norwegian league is ranked 26th order for the Norwegian champions will start in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League.
