Al Green (politician)

Alexander N. " Al " Green ( born September 1, 1947 in New Orleans, Louisiana) is an American politician. Since 2005 he represents the state of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Al Green studied 1966-1971 at Texas A & M University. He then continued his training at the Tuskegee University in Alabama. After a subsequent law degree from Texas Southern University in Houston, and his 1974 was admitted as a lawyer, he began to work in this profession. Between 1977 and 2004 he was a Justice of the Peace in Harris County. He was also president of the local chapter of the NAACP Houston.

Politically, Green joined the Democratic Party. In the congressional elections of 2004 he was in the ninth election district of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Nick Lampson on January 3, 2005. After the previous three elections, he can exercise his mandate in Congress today. He is a member of the Finance Committee and two subcommittees.
