Lera Millard Thomas

Lera Millard Thomas ( born August 3, 1900 in Nacogdoches, Texas, † July 23, 1993 ibid ) was an American politician. In the years 1966 and 1967, she represented the state of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Lera Millard, so her maiden name, the Brenau College visited in Gainesville (Georgia ) and studied at the University of Alabama after. She was a member of the women voters Association ( League of Women Voters ) in Houston and married Congressman Albert Thomas. After his death, she was elected as a candidate of the Democratic Party as his successor in Congress. Between March 26, 1966, to January 3, 1967, she ended the current legislative period in the U.S. House of Representatives. This was overshadowed by the events of the Vietnam War.

After the end of her tenure in Washington, D.C. Lera Thomas worked in 1968 as a correspondent for the newspaper Houston Chronicle from Vietnam. She died on 23 July 1993 in Nacogdoches.
