Pete Gallego

Pete P. Gallego ( born December 2, 1961 in Alpine, Texas) is an American politician. Since 2013 he represents the state of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Pete Gallego attended to 1982 Sul Ross State University in his home town of Alpine. After a subsequent law studies at the University of Texas at Austin and his 1985 was admitted to the bar he began to work in this profession. Between 1986 and 1989 he worked as an Assistant Attorney General in the Attorney General of Texas office. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. Between 1991 and 2012 he sat in the Texas House of Representatives.

In the congressional elections of 2012 Gallego was the 23rd electoral district of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded the Republican Quico Canseco took on January 3, 2013, he had beaten in the election. This initially refused to recognize the election results and also spoke later of electoral fraud. The official election results saw Gallego, 50 percent of the vote, well ahead of Canseco, who came to 46 percent of the vote. The difference was about 9200 votes.

Pete Gallego is married and lives privately in his home town of Alpine.
