O. C. Fisher

Ovie Clark " O. C. " Fisher ( born November 22, 1903 caused Junction, Texas, † December 9, 1994 in San Angelo, Texas ) was an American politician. He represented the state of Texas as a deputy in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

OC Fisher was born on November 22, 1903 near Junction in Kimble County, where he attended public school. He then went to the University of Colorado at Boulder and the University of Texas at Austin. Then he made his Bachelor of Laws in 1929 and his PhD at the Law School Baylor University in Waco. His admission to the bar he was in the same year and opened a practice in San Angelo. Fisher focused on the livestock and worked as a writer. In addition, he served from 1931 to 1935 as a prosecutor of Tom Green County. Subsequently, he was from 1935 to 1937 deputy in the Texas House of Representatives. Thereafter, he served from 1937 to 1943 as District Attorney of the 51st Judicial District.

Policy

Fisher was elected as a Democrat to the 78th and the 15 subsequent Congresses. His tenure came from 3 January 1943 until his resignation on 31 December 1974. Selects for the 84th Congress, he did not run. Fisher took his former work as a lawyer in San Angelo back on, which he held until his death on December 9, 1994.

During his tenure, he was chairman of the Committee on Elections No.. 3 ( 79th Congress ). In addition, he participated in the constitution of the Southern Manifesto, which spoke out against racial integration in public institutions.
