Bruce Alger

Bruce Reynolds Alger ( born June 12, 1918 in Dallas, Texas ) is a former American politician of the Republican Party, who represented the state of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Bruce Alger was born in 1918 in Dallas. In 1924 he and his family moved to Webster Groves, Missouri. He studied at Princeton University and graduated in 1940. Alger In September 1941, joined the United States Army Air Corps and served in during the Second World War as a B-29 pilot in the Pacific. In November 1945, he retired from active duty and returned to Dallas, led his own real estate company and was first president of the Chamber of Commerce of White Rock.

In the 1950s, Alger was chosen for the Republicans in the 84th and the following four congresses. He was thus dated January 3, 1955 to January 3, 1965 Member of the House of Representatives for the fifth congressional district of Texas. In the elections of 1964, he had no success: He defeated the Democrat Earle Cabell.

Alger now lives in Carrollton, Texas.
