John M. Moore

John Matthew Moore (* November 18, 1862 in Richmond, Fort Bend County, Texas, † February 3, 1940 ) was an American politician. Between 1905 and 1913 he represented the state of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

John Moore attended the common schools and the Agricultural and Mechanical College, College Station. He then worked in trade, banking, agriculture and especially in the field of animal husbandry. At the same time he began a political career as a member of the Democratic Party. From 1896 to 1898 he sat as an MP in the House of Representatives from Texas. In the years 1900 and 1916 he was a delegate to the Democratic National Conventions relevant. In addition, he served from 1887 to 1891 as Secretary of State of Texas.

After the assassination of Rep. John M. Pinckney in 1905, Moore was in the due election for the eighth seat of Texas as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC selected. After three re- elections he could remain until March 3, 1913 at the Congress. In 1912 he gave up another candidacy. After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives John Moore took his previous activities on again. He died on 3 February 1940.
