Frank Tejeda
Frank Mariano Tejeda ( born October 2, 1945 in San Antonio, Texas; † 30 January 1997) was an American lawyer and politician of the Democratic Party, who represented the state of Texas from 1993 until his death in 1997 in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Life
After attending St. Leo 's Catholic School and Harlandale High School Tejeda made 1963-1967 his military service in the U.S. Marine Corps and then began studying at the St. Mary's University in San Antonio, which he in 1970 with a Bachelor of Arts ( BA) graduated. A subsequent post-graduate studies in law at the Law School of the University of California, Berkeley, he finished in 1974 with a Juris Doctor ( JD) and was active after the subsequent attorney admitted to the bar.
In 1977, he began his political career and he was elected as a Democratic Party candidate for deputies in the Texas House of Representatives, where he served ten years until 1987. First, he represented there until 1983 the District 57- B, and then to 1987 the district 118, both located in San Antonio. During this time he completed an additional degree in Public Administration at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, from which he graduated in 1980 with a Master of Public Administration (MPA ).
After his retirement from the Texas House of Representatives between 1987 and 1993 he was a member of the Senate of Texas and took there the District 19 (San Antonio). During this time he again post-graduate studies in law at the Law School of Yale University and completed this in 1989 with a Master of Laws ( LL.M.). Tejeda in 1992 was elected deputy in the U.S. House of Representatives and represented in this January 3, 1993 until his death on 30 January 1997 the newly created 28th Congressional District of Texas. After his death, Ciro Rodriguez in a special election (Special Election ) was elected to succeed him.
For his services Tejeda was, who died of a brain tumor and was buried with military honors at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, posthumously awarded the Silver Star.
