Nick Lampson

Valentino Nicolas "Nick" Lampson ( born February 14, 1945 in Beaumont, Texas) is an American politician. Between 1997 and 2005, and again from 2007 to 2009 he represented the state of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Nick Lampson attended the public schools of his home, including the South Park High School, where in 1964 he got his degree. Then he studied until 1971 at Lamar University in his hometown of Beaumont. In the following years he worked as a teacher. Between 1977 and 1995 he was Grundsteuereinzieher in Jefferson County. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career.

In the congressional elections of 1996 Lampson was the ninth election district of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Republican Steve Stockman on 3 January 1997. After three re- elections, he was able to complete in Congress until January 3, 2005, four legislative sessions. In this time the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001, the Iraq war and the military mission in Afghanistan fell. In 2004, he was not confirmed.

Two years later, in 2006, Lampson was elected to Congress again in the 22nd district of his state, where he could spend another term in office between January 2007 and January 3, 2009 3rd. In 2008 he was not re-elected. In 2012 he was a candidate in the 14th district of Texas neugegliederten unsuccessfully for his return to the Congress. He was defeated by Randy Weber.
