Michael C. Burgess

Michael Clifton Burgess ( born December 23, 1950 in Rochester, Minnesota) is an American politician. Since 2003 he represents the state of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Michael Burgess attended until 1976, the North Texas State University in Denton. After a subsequent medical studies and his medical license, he began to work in this profession. Politically, he joined the Republican Party.

In the congressional elections of 2002, Burgess was in the 26th electoral district of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of not more candidates Majority Leader Dick Armey on 3 January 2003. Against his son Scott Burgess himself had prevailed in the Republican Primary. After the previous four elections - most recently he won in 2010 with 67:30 percent of the vote to Democrat Neil Durrance - he can exercise his mandate in Congress today. He is a member of the Committee on Energy and Commerce as well as in three sub-committees. In his time as a congressman of the Iraq war and the military mission in Afghanistan fell. Burgess represents the interests of his party in essence. In connection with the increase in the debt limit in August 2011, he spoke in favor of impeachment proceedings against President Barack Obama.

On June 17, 2013 Burgess attracted attention by claiming, male fetuses were masturbate. They were thus able to feel pain and pleasure and should therefore not be aborted. Burgess is married and lives privately in Lewisville.
