Roger Williams (U.S. politician)

John Roger Williams ( * September 13 1949 in Evanston, Illinois) is an American politician. Since 2013 he represents the state of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Roger Williams attended Arlington Heights High School in Fort Worth and then studied until 1972 at Texas Christian University, also in Fort Worth. At that time he also worked as a baseball player and coach. Later he worked in the family's own car company, founded in 1939, whose owner he was. Politically, he joined the Republican Party. He supported the gubernatorial and presidential campaigns of George W. Bush. Between 2005 and 2007 he served as Secretary of State, the executive officers of the state government of Texas.

In the congressional elections of 2012, Williams was in the 25th electoral district of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Lloyd Doggett on January 3, 2013. Originally Williams had made a run for the U.S. Senate in the eye, which, however, he refrained.

Roger Williams has with his wife, two adult daughters. He is still the owner of his car company.
