Edwin Le Roy Antony

Edwin Le Roy Antony ( born January 5, 1852 in Waynesboro, Burke County, Georgia; † January 16, 1913 in Dallas, Texas ) was an American politician. Between 1891 and 1893 he represented the state of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

In 1859 Edwin Antony came with his parents in the Brazoria County, Texas. 1867 the family moved to the Milam County on. He attended the public schools of his respective home. Then he studied until 1873 at the University of Georgia in Athens. After studying law and his 1874 was admitted to the bar he began in Cameron to work in this profession. In 1876 he was prosecutor in Milam County. After the illness of a District Judge Antony held in 1886, also showing this office. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. Between 1890 and 1892 he sat in the council of Cameron.

Following the resignation of Mr Roger Q. Mills Antony was at the due election for the ninth seat of Texas as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he took up his new mandate on 14 June 1892. Since he was not nominated for the regular congressional elections of 1892 by his party, he could only finish the current term in Congress until March 3, 1893. After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Edwin Antony again practiced as a lawyer. He died on January 16, 1913 in Dallas, where he was also buried.
